Description
Kodak XL55 Super 8 ciné camera, for Super 8 cartridges; Kodak Ektar Zoom lens, F:9-21mm f/1.2, focusing. Auto expopsure 9, 18 fps, electric drive; electric zoom option. Takes 4 AA batteries (removed). Automatic exposure and the direct-vision optical viewfinder is at the side. The Kodak XL55 Super 8mm Camera was one of the first Kodak Super 8 cameras to incorporate the 230 degree shutter and fast f/1.2 lens that when used with the (then) highly sensitive Ektachrome 160 filmstock allowed filming in very low light levels - the marketing suggested this was possible in candlelight. The XL55, like the simpler XL33, is of unconventional design and is held by its sides. The film cartridge is inserted at the rear of the camera.
